Focus 40 - Day 26

Romans 11:26
The DELIVERER
Paul introduces us to Christ the DELIVERER in Romans 11:26. His reference is actually a quotation from Psalm 14:6, which is later quoted by the Prophet Isaiah 59:20. Looking back at the Psalmist’s reference we can be assured that no matter what degree of attack that is upon us, the Lord will bring deliverance to us. In the Isaiah passage we see the prophet uses the title “Redeemer” in reference to the Messiah. This is the reference that Paul is talking about when he said, “This is my covenant with them, I will take away their sins”. Here we have a covenant agreement that God declares that once we become His, He “takes away” our sins.
Taking a closer look we see four important points:
1.       That Christ DELIVERS us from this body of death. This reference is to the cravings of our carnal, fleshly nature which yearns to have its own way. Ro. 7:24
2.       Christ DELIVERS us out of the “hand of our enemies”. Luke 1:74
3.       Christ DELIVERS from the mouth of the lion. 2 Tim. 4:17. It is here that Jesus is pictured as the New Testament equivalent of Daniel’s Deliverer. Our enemy roars about as a lion seeking whom he may devour, but Christ is our DELIVERER. If you will remember this passage, Daniel seemed to be in a hopeless situation placed in the lion’s den by King Darius. But God became his deliverer.
4.       Christ will DELIVER us from the wrath to come as Paul instructed the Church at Thessalonians. In Jesus’ name we rest in the hope that Christ is coming and delivering His church from final hours on earth.
Today live in Jesus’ name, our DELIVERER. Approach every circumstance in the power of Christ’s presence. Picture yourself confronting each temptation, each battle, one at a time, but not alone- Jesus is beside you in every battle.
As you pray today in Jesus’ name, your DELIVERER, pray through this list of definitions for the word deliver:
“Deliver” means to set free or save from evil or danger. Can you think of a circumstance from which you or a friend needs deliverance? Contend for deliverance today in Jesus’ name.
“Deliver” means to assist a woman at the birth of a child.  Is there something that God has promised to “birth” or bring into existence. Could this be God’s timing in your life for God to deliver on that promise? You may want to ask Him for a spirit of travail (labor) to birth forth the promise that was given.
“Deliver” means to give forth or express in words, as in delivering a speech. Today could be the day that God gives you boldness, favor, to witness to a loved one, boss, co-worker, family member or friend; the plan of salvation, a word of encouragement, pray for deliverance.
“Deliver” means strike a blow, as in delivering a punch. Today, let us use our time of prayer to strike a blow in satan’s direction. Arm yourself with the Word of God, and take a few swings every now and then. Remember to PRAISE the name of Jesus, WORSHIP the LORD MOST HIGH. Nothing angers satan more than a believer who worships.
Expect deliverance to come to you today, in Jesus name.
