Focus 40 - Day 34

1 John 2:2
The Propitiation (Offering) for our sins
And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
God does not remind a man of his sin but that he is forgiven, and the past is no longer the memory of how much he did wrong, but how much he was forgiven – that man rests in the forgiveness of his sin.
John helps us understand the concept of God’s capacity to cover our sins by referring to Christ as the Propitiation for our sins. Many people make the mistake of thinking it is necessary to negotiate with God in order to be accepted by Him. They sometimes pray, “God if you do this for me, I’ll do this for you.” But Christ our Propitiation has done everything necessary to fulfill any vow we could make to better ourselves in God’s eyes.
Jesus is our covering as we move into each day’s warfare. And He serves as this covering in more ways than one:
·         Covers us when the enemy’s fiery darts come our way
·         Christ’s blood covers all our sins and failures
·         His protection as we travel throughout our day
·         His blood covers negative reports others say about us
·        His blood provides for us in our time of need
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. Lamentations 3:23
