Purpose
John 14:6
The Way the Truth the Life
You are important to God and He has given to you of Himself, His Son, Jesus Christ. It is His desire that your life would have purpose, and that begins with the recognition that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. John 14:6.
The Way
In the Greek “the way” has a variety of meanings. It can refer to a narrow path - a way only a few can travel; a broad road - one that may be used by chariot; it can also be used as a term for a highway in which many may travel such as a military army. It may also imply a river used to transport commercial products. The fact is that this word is used to encompass any road, path that one would travel. What an overwhelming thought that no matter where we are - in a tight place, (narrow path) or a broad way (path of temptation), or in the wilderness - it is Christ who brings us sure footing; it is Christ who gives us direction; it is Christ who is our very present guide.
The Truth
Christ pictures Himself as the Truth. He qualifies as Truth because He could not lie. In practical terms that by living in Jesus as the Truth I am assisted against compromising my integrity. I have total Truth dwelling in me as I face life’s demands.
The Life
It is clear that life spoken here is not a physical life, but that of a spiritual life given to us by the Son, Jesus Christ. “He who does not have the Son, does not have life.” 1John 5:11-12
To live in Jesus’ name, the Way the Truth the Life, is to tap into Christ’s power in every task we undertake. We can take His purpose into every family situation, personal relationship, and every demanding circumstances of our life.
Spend time praying to Him as the Way in your life (giving direction), praying to Him as the Truth in your life (helping you against compromising integrity), pray to Him as the Life in your life (that in Him we have everlasting life.)
