Numbers 24:16-17
24:16 He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open: |
24:17 I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth |
The wonderful news of Christ was told by the prophet Balaam in a vision. Balaam, a servant of God, knew the voice of God, and knew of His knowledge. “I shall see him, but he is not now. I shall behold him, but not nigh” - I shall have a full view of him, but the time is yet distant. The person of whom I am now prophesying does not at present exist among these Israelites, nor shall he appear in this generation. There shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel - a person eminent for wisdom, and formidable for strength and power, shall arise as king among this people. He shall have complete authority and all he shall bring perfectly under subjection. This prophecy of Christ’s birth also reveals His return to rapture the church unto Himself. He has complete authority and all see and hear will one day bow to Him as King of King. AMEN
