Focus 40 - Day 13

1 Cor. 1:24
The power of God
But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
There is something supernatural about the name of Jesus, whether it is thought or spoken. His name is power. Paul in his writings presents the Lord as the “Power of God” first in His work on the cross and the power of the resurrection.  Second, is that praying in the name of Jesus, places us within the resources of Calvary’s almightiness and way beyond man’s ability.
Jesus is our miracle, translated in the New Testament as “Power” or dynamo, “an extraordinary force”.  It is also used as “miracle”. It would not be inaccurate to translate this verse as “Christ the miracle of God”.
Jesus is our Mastery, Paul told the believers in Rome, “there is no authority (power) except from God (Ro. 13:1). But as many as receive Him, to them He gave the right (or power) to become children of God (John 1:12). This basic meaning relates to one’s privileges and rights as children. And now Jesus extends that Mastery to us as He gives us “Authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over the power of the enemy” Luke 10:19.
Jesus is our might. Paul in his letter to Thessalonians refers to Christ’s coming, in the “glory of His power” (2 Thes. 1:9).  It is clear that nothing will be able to withstand Him. “Who can endure the day of His coming?” (Mal. 3:2)
Jesus is our magnificence, Luke tells the people who saw Jesus cast out demons, and they were amazed at His magnificent Power.
With Jesus as our miracle, our mastery, our might and our magnificence, this gives us great encouragement as we face our tomorrows.
First remember, whatever we go through we have the ability to be a channel for the miracle power of God.
Second, we take with us the Mastery of Jesus’ Name into situations where satan seeks to diminish our authority as a child of God.
Third, we take the might of Jesus’ name when we go into battle, “The battle is not yours, but God’s” (2 Chron. 20:15).
Fourth, we take the magnificence of Jesus with us as we see His beauty in creation, in circumstances, and even in relationships with others.
